The name
What is a folly?
In the great gardens of the eighteenth century, a folly was a small building with no job at all. A tower that guarded nothing. A temple to no god. A dome at the end of a path, built for the single purpose of making you smile when you rounded the corner.
Architects considered them frivolous. People adored them. Three hundred years later, the follies are still standing, and everyone still walks to the end of the path.
Every object should earn its place twice: once for what it does, once for how it looks doing it.
Form Folly
The idea
Form first. Function always.
We design objects the way those architects designed follies: shape first. A claw clip built like a colonnade. A jewelry dish that stands like a tiny amphitheater. A bag charm that would look at home on a plinth.
Then we make each one earn its keep. Everything we sell holds, clips, carries, stores or stands, every day, without complaint.
The making
Made to order in Texas
Nothing we sell sits in a warehouse. Each piece is made for you after you order it, in our Texas studio, and is made and shipped in 1 to 2 business days.
Making to order means no pile of unsold stock, small-run colors we can retire the moment we fall out of love with them, and a catalog that changes as fast as our sketchbooks do.
